
International Youth Jam 2005 08th-10th August , Pearl Continental Hotel Karachi
The first International Youth Jam was an occasion for welcoming national and international presenters and participants into the global youth community. International Youth Jam will focused on a wide variety of issues and challenges debated not only in Pakistan but also all over the world. The Conference slogan for the year 2005 was “Empowering Youth for a Sustainable future”. It was a reflection of the change in the mindset of our societies. The conference provided innovative ideas and different perspectives by using a variety of techniques strategies and methodologies to make our today’s youth independent and more learned. The International Youth Jam had been unique in its own way as it addressed significant themes that are of great importance today such as ICT and Education, Working across borders on global issues with special focus on street children, women development and empowerment. It impacted a large number of youth from various leading universities and institutes from all over Pakistan and also from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Germany.
Honorable guests, keynote speakers, panelists, presenters, and participants created opportunities for networking and sharing their rich cultural and learning experience with each other. Dr. Mohammad Ali Shah (Advisor to Governor Sindh), Ms. Kay Anske (Acting US Consular General), Mr. K. A. Baaz (Member Parliament Sri Lanka), Dr. Saeeda Malik (Minister Women Development), Mr.Ameem Akhtar (Senior Executive Vice President National Bank) notable personalities provided an opportunity for youngsters to enrich themselves from the presence and experience of such highly qualified dignitaries. International Youth Jam 2005 took place at Pearl Continental Hotel from 8-10th August 2005. The event proceedings started with the opening ceremony held on 8th August at 9:30 am at Pearl Continental Hotel. There were approximately 350 National Delegates with 14 International Delegates representing Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Germany. Both print and electronic media covered the event. 17 newspapers, 3 satellite channels and 2 radio Broad casting systems gave conference coverage.
